Food Handling Course

food handling

Course Details

Chefs, caterers, cooks, kitchen hands and stewards, bar, food, and beverage attendants, are food handlers. During their work activities they handle food directly, or work with food contact surfaces such as cutlery and crockery. In some venues, room attendants and front office staff might also be considered food handlers. And food handlers must comply with requirements set out in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code.

The best way to ensure your food business complies with the Food Standards Code is for all your food handlers to complete a Food Handling course. Coffee School's Sydney Food Handling course will equip all food handlers with the skills and knowledge for safe food handling. This includes personal hygiene and hygienic cleaning practices, along with the ability to identify food hazards that could lead to contaminated food and food-borne diseases.

Commercial, charitable, and community organisations with permanent or temporary kitchen premises or small food preparation or bar areas must comply with the Standard. This includes cafeterias, canteens, kiosks and fast-food outlets; restaurants, cafes, clubs, hotels, and bars; function, event, exhibition, and conference facilities with catering; educational institutions; aged care facilities and hospitals; some tour operators and attractions; correctional centres; in-flight and other transport catering.
