Sydney Food Safety Supervisor Course

Food Safety Supervisor

Course Details

Safe food handling practices are critical in any establishment that prepares and serves food. It doesn't only apply to clubs, bars, restaurants, cafes, and hotels. The practice is just as important in event, exhibition, and conference spaces, along with hospitals, aged care facilities, military bases, correctional facilities, educational institutions, cafeterias, fast-food outlets, canteens, kiosks, in-flight and transport catering, and some tour operators.

Not all States and Territories require businesses with food preparation areas or permanent or temporary kitchens to have a designated food safety supervisor. But most establishments would certainly benefit from having someone who has completed a Food Safety Supervisor course.

Learners who complete the Food Safety Supervisor course will gain skills and knowledge about safe food handling practices throughout the food preparation cycle. From storing food safely, through to preparing, displaying, serving, and disposing of food safely. Learners will need to show competence in procedures described in a food safety program.

The Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code requires all food businesses to have a food safety program in place. And a food safety supervisor would have the necessary knowledge to implement and audit a food safety program that clearly defines safe food handling procedures specific to the business. Food safety programs are usually based on the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) method. However, the Food Safety Supervisor course equips learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to follow any other food safety system.
